Story

There’s no denim in here. No cotton to suck up sweat and rain and clam up your life. No cotton to stay cold for hours as it barely dries. No cotton to blowout after a month or two of cycling. The original jeans were a technical pant made for miners. To make a truly 21st century jean we needed to avoid the world of denim fetishists and find a material that could take the five-pocket pant back to its performance roots.

The secret lies in the powerfully counterintuitive Strongtwill. Strongtwill starts out as extremely fine nylon fibers which are air-textured for a gentle softness. By twisting dozens upon dozens of these filaments together into a single yarn, this softness transforms into a chunky toughness—a strength in numbers if you will. The result is a tough-as-fuck fabric that slowly softens over time. Elastane is added for a subtle two-way stretch and the whole thing is coated with an eco-calibrated DWR for rain and stain resistance.

A soft, rugged and protective everyday pant that outperforms and outlasts denim.

Fabric

A counterintuitively powerful fabric, soft and strong. Strongtwill starts with Supplex, an air texturized nylon fiber originally designed to emulate the soft breathability of cotton in undergarments. To make the Strongtwill dozens upon dozens of these extremely fine filaments are twisted together to make a thick, chunky yarn. The gentle touch is still there but with so many fibers per yarn it hides under a rugged durability, there to slowly emerge with repeated hard wear.

A stretch and non-stretch version of these thick supplex yarns are woven together in a 2x1 twill to create two way stretch fabric with the long term softness of cotton combined with the serious toughness of high grade nylon 6,6. The fabric is then finished with an ecocalibrated DWR to stay cleaner and dry quicker for more intensive wearability.
