has an incredible four-way stretch, serious durability and doublewoven
comfort.
The 2018 version has been completely revised for the first time ever, albeit mostly in subtle behind-the-scenes sorts of ways. The waist band has been reconstructed completely with a new stretch fusible to give it a yoga pant like firm flexibility and comfort. The front now features a slot button and back pockets have hidden bully flaps for more security. The front pockets are now made from a power mesh for extra breathability. And the legs have been just ever so slightly recut to fit even better. At it’s core though it’s the same slim fit pant in an incredible four way stretch doublewoven fabric that outperforms just about anything else around. - Fabric
Our core OG Cloth: breathable, comfortable and durable, the most versatile fabric around. The self-cleaning NanoSphere treatment means that coffee, wine and dirt roll off with ease, keeping you looking fresh and clean in the trickiest of situations. The Schoeller Dryskin Extreme fabric looks elegant, yet repels water. But when it does saturate, it will dry in minutes (generally around 15-20). The doubleweave structure means it's tough and durable on the exterior, yet soft and comfortable inside. ↗ An Outlier Original
One of the very first Outlier products, a lean pant built with a four-way stretch doubleweave fabric for maximum freedom of movement, durability and comfort. We originally made it because we kept blowing out our jeans cycling in the city, but we quickly realized these made better pants for anything from rock climbing to backpacking the world or just straight up living a simpler life.
↗ Four-Way Stretch for Maximum Freedom
Built in Switzerland by the four-way stretch woven masters at Schoeller Textil, the OG Cloth has enough stretch, snap and recovery that you can do yoga in these pants. The vertical yoke in the rear subtly amplifies the natural stretch by removing restrictive seams.
↗ A Slim Cut with Character
Cut long and lean but not hyper skinny, with a 35" (easily hemmable) inseam. They stretch out slightly with wear but shrink right back to their original size when washed. The waistband is quite flexible yet firm for a secure comfort. Swan cut front pockets ensure it's always easy to get in no matter how tight you wear them.
↗ Serious Durability
The exterior of these pants is an air texturized, high tenacity, nylon 6,6, a hardcore yarn that can take a serious beating. It can handle the repetitive stress of days of serious cycling and the pounding of rock climbing and still look good. While the soft interior can wear down over time it's pretty damn difficult to damage the exterior and structural integrity of these through standard wear and tear. They aren't indestructible of course so we recommend avoiding crashing and knife fights to preserve their longevity. Combining durability and stretch does have one weakness, this stuff can snag on certain extremely small sharp hooks, so we don't recommend them for owners of cats that scratch and for backcountry trips that involve brambles or dense underbrush.
↗ Doublewoven Comfort
While the exterior is dense and tough, the inner, skin facing side, is a soft and loose weave with a three-dimensional structure that reduces skin contact. This makes them super comfortable to wear, improves breathability and allows them to dry faster and stay more comfortable when wet.
↗ NanoSphere Clean and Dry
The pants are finished with Schoeller's "self-cleaning" NanoSphere treatment which emulates the surface structure of a lotus leaf. Light water will bead and roll off, as will dirt, wine and beer. It's not water proof so they will get wet eventually but when they do they will dry quickly so you can keep moving in comfort. While this lotus leaf effect does fade a bit over wear, 5-10 minutes in the dryer will re-activate it to near full effect.
