Experiment 004 - Exploded Pivot Shirt

Experiment 004 - Exploded Pivot Shirt

An experiment in shirt patternmaking, we took our patented pivot sleeve and stretched it far past its logical conclusions to create a simple summer short sleeve built in a highly non-traditional manner.

Story
Okay, this one is a bit esoteric. With our patented pivot sleeve we added mobility to a classic dress shirt by extending the sleeve piece down the back of the shirt. With the exploded pivot we decided to take the idea a little too far and see what happens if we extended the pivot sleeves to the point where they take over the whole body. The two sleeve pieces are extended to meet at the center of the back, but also extend over the shoulder and around the side of the torso to transform into the front of the shirt. That’s it really, just two pieces of fabric (as opposed to six on a standard shirt) plus a front placket and band collar. All sewn up in the crisp and light cotton, linen, ramie blend Mojave fabric to make a simple summer experiment.
Fabric
Mojave Logo
Linen and ramie are some of the strongest of the plant fibers and are generally considered to be of the oldest used for textiles. They're slightly hydrophilic meaning that they absorb moisture quickly but keeps a dryer touch from its natural structure. Woven with cotton to keep the wear like linen but the upkeep like cotton.

This fabric has a soft hand and textured appearance.
